ABOUT AMINEH AHMAD

Amineh Ahmad graduated from the College for Creative Studies in Detroit with a major in Fashion Accessories Design. As a first generation Arab-American, she grew up in a traditional household where she continuously sought out the perfect balance between her cultural and religious upbringings and the norms of Western society. At a young age, Amineh was drawn to fashion because of the strict requirements to dress modestly in her culture, which influenced her drive to find individuality in what she wore. She was interested in exploring what modesty actually meant to the modern day Arab-American.  She chose to study Fashion Accessories Design because she felt that a woman’s accessory was more than just an everyday essential. Rather, she knew that fashion accessories could give women a voice to be heard and a space to be seen.

Amineh’s senior thesis, “Arabesque”, is a six-piece accessories collection inspired by the role Muslim & Arab women play within their society.  The collection explores the relationship between religion and culture, and seeks to explain how accessories can be used as a tool to guide, shape and mold a person’s behaviour and identity.

In 2020, Amineh began her career as a footwear designer for the Women's Polo team at Ralph Lauren.
